NEW DELHI: A plastic accessories manufacturing unit was gutted in a fire that broke out in Jhilmil Industrial Area of North-East Delhi on Friday. No one was injured. According to a Fire Department spokesperson, the fire broke out in the basement of the factory around 6-45 a.m. After about 30 minutes, the fire was declared of medium category and 25 fire tenders were pressed into service. The blaze was finally brought under control around 9-15 a.m. Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire started in the basement and then engulfed the ground, first and second floors within a short time. Presence of lubricants and other inflammable material on the first floor and packaging material on the second helped the fire to spread.
