Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Boman Irani, Well-made movies, like a well-written book, take you to a happy place and Homi Adajania's directorial debut, Being Cyrus, is a sharply observed, witty, spiffy trip to that happy place. Everything about the movie is pitch perfect - from the snappy dialogue to the totally believable characters, the mind-blowing performances to the rocking background score. The story is of Cyrus who enters the Sethna home and more than stirs things up. Saif Ali Khan is a revelation as Cyrus. The other characters are seen through Cyrus' eyes, so there are prompts as to how to play them. Naseer is the pothead sculptor; Dimple is the disillusioned wife who dreams of a better life. Then there is Boman as the blustering bully, Farokh, and Simone Singh is his coy wife, Tina. But it is the Chote Nawab, who immerses himself into Cyrus so completely that you cannot see the dancer for the dance. To borrow a line from the film, he plays it "like a violin."
