Surgeons should upgrade their skills, says Vice-Chancellor

HUBLI: Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences P.S. Prabhakaran has called upon surgeons to continuously upgrade their surgical skills.

Inaugurating a workshop "Live Surg 2006" jointly organised by the Department of Surgery, Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, and Hospital and Association of Surgeons of India, Hubli-Dharwad Chapter, here on Saturday evening, he asked surgeons to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments.

On the researches in cancer therapy, he said technology has also not only improvised cancer therapy techniques but also made the therapy more economical.

P.S. Kaladagi, Director of KIMS, presided over the function. Mallikarjun Desai, organising chairman of the workshop, Narayan Hebsur, organising secretary, and others were present.

Renowned surgeons such as C.S. Rajan, K.R. Suresh, M. Ramesh of Bangalore, Parul Shukla, Rajesh Mistry, Roy Patankar from Mumbai, G. Siddesh from Mysore and P. Mamatha are conducting live surgeries and making presentations during the workshop. Five live surgery sessions are being held during the workshop.
