Elected CII chairman

CHENNAI
: Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Director, Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW), Coimbatore, has been elected new Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Tamil Nadu for 2006-2007.
He has been closely associated with the CII, occupying positions such as chairman of the organisation's Coimbatore zonal unit during 1997-98 and as chairman of the textiles sub-committee of CII (southern region) during 2002 and 2003. He is the chairman of Young Indians (Yi), Coimbatore chapter.
A release issued by the CII (southern region) said Mr. Jayavarthanavelu was the immediate past chairman of the Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association, Mumbai.
R. Ramaraj, Managing Director, Sify Ltd., has been elected vice-chairman of the CII, Tamil Nadu for 2006-2007, the release said.
