HYDERABAD: A speeding car, which sported an MLA label on its windscreen, rammed an oncoming scooterist, throwing him off the Basheerbagh flyover in the city on Saturday. The scooterist, Mohammed Abdul Raheem (25), is battling for his life at a private hospital in Hyderguda. "His helmet broke into pieces as he landed on his head. Without the helmet, chances of his survival would have been extremely remote," said Saifabad Sub-Inspector P. Ramachandra Reddy after visiting the spot. Raheem's colleague Santosh said, "I was driving [a two-wheeler] behind Raheem. The car suddenly came in the opposite direction, turned extreme right and hit Raheem's scooter." The driver, who was arrested, said he did not know the registered owner of the vehicle. Nor could he explain how the `MLA' sticker, which ensures unhindered entry into the Assembly premises, was pasted on the windscreen.
