NEW DELHI : The issue of separate Telangana has created a fissure in the Opposition ranks with a senior Janata Dal (United) leader from Andhra Pradesh distancing himself from the party move on the issue. Upset over the move by the party to set up a separate State committee for Telangana, former Samata party president and JD (U) leader V.V. Krishna Rao has resigned from it. Mr. Rao sent in his resignation both from the national executive and primary membership of the party to JD (U) president George Fernandes. Taking objection to the move of the central party leadership to form a separate state committee for Telangana, Mr. Rao has said this is against the views prevalent in the State unit of the party. "As you know that most of our comrades do not wish to have committees basing upon regions. Moreover separate state committees are not permitted even in our party constitutions and Election Commission rules also do not permit such local committees in States.''
