THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Magician Gopinath Muthukad is getting ready to present another stage show that depicts the friendship between the Dalawa of erstwhile Travancore, Velu Thampi, and a reputed magician, Kadayattu Unnithan, who was his contemporary. Muthkad is playing the role of Unnithan and he has roped in Sai Kumar to play the role of Velu Thampi. Muthukad said the show was designed after a thorough research of historical documents. "Our effort is to bring to limelight the virtuous character of Kadayattu Unnithan who was a great solace to the Dalawa whenever he was in trouble," says Muthukad. The historic Kundara Proclamation and the capturing of the Udayagiri and Padmanabhapuram forts have been included in the show. The show will be staged at Ilampalloor Temple in Kollam on March 29, which marks the 197th death anniversary of Velu Thampi Dalawa. Dialogue of the play has been written by Sreenath Kottakkal. Noted artist Sujathan has designed the backdrop.
