Award for DMA president

NEW DELHI: Delhi Medical Association president Dr. K.K. Aggarwal was awarded DMA Swasthya Ratna 2005-2006 at a function here over the weekend for his contribution to society.

Speaking at the function organised to mark DNA annual day, Dr. Aggarwal said more work needs to be done to improve healthcare facilities in the city.

Delhi Finance Minister A.K. Walia said doctors were role models for society and need to contribute 10 per cent of their time for community work.

Four books on Bhagat Singh released

NEW DELHI: Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy released four books on Bhagat Singh at a function here this past week to mark his 75th Martyrdom Day.

"These beautiful, scholarly volumes tell us about Bhagat Singh, the great patriot, the great revolutionary and the great humanist," said Mr. Reddy.

IGNOU programmes in Gulf countries

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University has emerged as the largest mega university offering education in India and 35 countries. According to an IGNOU release, the university is offering academic programmes in the Gulf countries of United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Muscat, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. It is also offering programmes in Mauritius, Maldives, Seychelles, Nepal, Sri Lanka and African countries.

Solar Eclipse Mela

NEW DELHI: For the convenience of the pilgrims of Solar Eclipse Mela at Kurukshetra, Northern Railways has made arrangements to run five pairs of special trains, extend the services of passenger trains, augument existing passenger trains and provide additional stoppage to certain Mail/Express trains en route.
