First class student crushed to death

HYDERABAD: A first class student was crushed to death when he came under the wheels of a van at New Hafeezpet on the city outskirts on Sunday morning.

Six-year-old S. Narasimha of Marthandanagar in Miyapur was on the way to his house along with his grandmother Suguna when the accident occurred. The duo was trying to cross the road when the van coming from Kondapur hit the boy resulting in serious head injuries.

Passers-by shifted the boy to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead. Van driver Umesh was taken into custody.

"We suspect the driver could have lost control while trying to avoid an autorickshaw coming in the opposite direction and in the process, knocked down Narasimha,'' the police said. Suguna escaped with minor injuries.
