KOCHI: The Tourism Department, the Confederation of Indian Industry and new-generation private hospitals in the State are likely to join hands to engage a consultant to study long and short-term goals for the emerging medical tourism sector in the State. This is one consensus reached at Kerala Health Tourism 2006, an international conference and exhibition on medical tourism in the city, which concluded here on Saturday.
Agency to be selected
Philip Augustine, chairman of the programme and managing director of Lakeshore Hospital, said the organisers of the show had broached the matter with a couple of agencies and an agency would be picked soon as consultant. The Tourism Department is expected to back the effort, especially as this year has been declared the Year of Medical Tourism by the State Government.
