BANGALORE: The city police have traced the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run case causing the death of a traffic police constable near Bellandur on Saturday. M.N. Reddi, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), told The Hindu that the taxi, with registration number KA 05 B 3479, has been found. He said efforts were on to arrest the driver. A week after Arun Kumar, a traffic police sub inspector, was fatally knocked down by a multi utility vehicle on Cubbon Road, Srinivas Murthy (35), attached to Airport Traffic Police Station, was knocked down by the taxi. Murthy, riding a traffic patrol motorcycle along with another constable K. Ravichandra, was on duty near Iggalur bus stop on the outer ring road around 9.10 pm. when the accident occurred. Ravichandra and others had noted down the vehicle number. Murthy died of injuries at the hospital, the police said. Adugodi Traffic Police have registered a case. The police, however, are yet to trace the vehicle involved in last week's incident.
Arrested
The Mico Layout Police have arrested three persons who were allegedly preparing to commit dacoity and recovered lethal weapons from them on Saturday. The police gave the name of the arrested persons as Nanje Gowda, Madhu and Santosh. According to the police, seven persons, including the three arrested, were travelling in a vehicle and it had hit a police constable Cheluvaraju at Shinivagilu Junction. The public informed the police control room about the incident and also gave the registration number of the vehicle. When a police team tried to intercept the vehicle on 16th Cross in BTM Layout, the accused abandoned the vehicle and fled. The police team, however, arrested the three and recovered the lethal weapons. Mico Layout Police have registered a case. Investigation is on.
