Matriculation, Anglo Indian examinations commence

Over 6,000 students appear in Salem and Namakkal districts

SALEM: Over 6,000 students appeared for the Matriculation and Anglo Indian examinations in Salem and Namakkal districts.

In Salem district, a total of 3,756 students appeared for the examinations at 78 centres. Of which, 3,623 students - 1,947 boys and 1,676 girls - were from 105 Matriculation schools and 133 students - 98 boys and 35 girls - were from two Anglo Indian schools.

A district-level examination committee was formed to ensure the smooth conduct of examinations. Flying squads and inspection teams, which were led by the Chief Educational Officer and District Educational Officers, visited a number of examination centres to check malpractices.

Educational officials requested the students not to indulge in malpractices such as copying or any other practice violating the examination rules.

In Namakkal district, a total of 2,639 Matriculation students - 1,538 boys and 1,101 girls - appeared for the examinations in 40 examination centres. The district administration had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examinations.

According to a release, over 59,000 students studying in government, aided and self-financing schools in Salem and Namakkal districts would appear for the SSLC and OSLC examinations scheduled to commence on March 29.

In Salem district, a total of 38,821 students - 21,222 boys and 17,599 girls - studying in 233 schools would write the examinations. In Namakkal district, about 20,394 students would write the examinations in 57 centres.
