MUMBAI: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police on Monday questioned former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India Jagmohan Dalmiya and other officials regarding the charges of misappropriation of funds, forgery and cheating during the 1996 World Cup. This followed the FIR lodged by BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah and the directions issued by the Bombay High Court. Jagmohan Dalmiya arrived from Kolkata at the EOW office at the Mumbai Police Headquarters. One of the defence lawyers, Satish Maneshinde, accompanied him. Other officials, former secretary S.K. Nair, former treasurers, Kishor Rungta and Jyoti Bajpai, arrived from Kerala, Rajasthan and Kanpur respectively. A team of three officers led by Inspector Sudhir Mahadik questioned them separately regarding the alleged misappropriation to the tune of Rs. 21 lakh from the bank account of INDCOM operated by Jagmohan Dalmiya from 1995-96 till it was closed. The EOW will question them till March 31.
