Special Correspondent

Hyderabad: A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Government and Whitefield Paper Mills Limited paving the way for establishment of Rs. 1,200-crore mega paper mill of two lakh metric tonne per annum capacity here on Monday.

Representatives of the company signed the MoU in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy and Principal Secretary (Industries) Lakshmi Parthasarathy. The project is to be located near Bayyavaram village near Kovvur in West Godavari district.

Chairman of the company T. Srinivasa Rao said the entire pulp requirement would be met through imports to avoid any damage to the forests here, as the plant was tied-up with reputed international company Elof Hansson Group. The company had the potential to generate 1,000 jobs directly and 10,000 more indirectly.
