dated March 29, 1956: Nehru blames Pak. Press

Prime Minister Nehru told the Lok Sabha on March 28 that a section of the Pakistani Press was pouring "concentrated venom and invective" on India. He held this section of the Press responsible for the misbehaviour of a section of the crowd when Mr. Mehr Chand Khanna addressed it on Pakistan's Republic Day in Karachi. Mr. Nehru was speaking on the admissibility of an adjournment motion on the issue of insult to Mr. Khanna at Karachi where he had gone as India's special envoy to participate in the celebrations. Mr. Nehru informed the House that at the meeting itself the Foreign Minister of Pakistan expressed his deep regret to Mr. Khanna, and later, the Prime Minister of Pakistan also expressed his deep regret at the misbehaviour of the crowd.
