MYSORE: World Theatre Day held in Mysore on Monday witnessed a novel protest in the form of a drama staged by amateur theatre artistes who are against vested interest groups hijacking the theatre movement. The artistes lamented that the theatre movement in the State has ceased to be a social movement and is being influenced by certain groups with vested interests. The artistes regretted that World Theatre Day is being celebrated under different banners and said this is indicative of the rift within the artistes' community. This does not augur well for society, the theatre artistes said.
