Allocation for priority sector up by 42 per cent

Bellary credit plan allocates Rs. 550.25 crore for agriculture


  • Rs. 410.73 crore allocated for crop loans
  • Secondary sector to get Rs. 141.39 crore
  • Rs. 278.93 crore set aside for non-priority sector

    BELLARY: The district credit plan for 2006-07 envisages an outlay of Rs. 1,192.9 crore.

    Of this, a sum of Rs. 913.97 crore has been set aside for the priority sector and Rs. 278.93 crore for the non-priority sector.

    The credit plan, which has been prepared by Syndicate Bank, the lead bank of the district, was launched here on Monday. It has been prepared with the potential linked plan of NABARD as its basis.

    The allocation for the priority sector has gone up by 42 per cent over the previous year's allocation. Agriculture has got the top priority with Rs. 550.25 crore allocated to it, which accounts for an increase of Rs. 85.76 crore over the previous year's outlay.

    Under the agricultural sector, crop loans take the lion's share of Rs. 410.73 crore of the Rs. 550.25 crore allocated to the sector. The secondary sector comprising small-scale industries and non-farm sector has got Rs. 141.39 crore, which is 15.46 per cent of the total outlay for the priority sector. Retail trade and small businesses, which comprise the tertiary sector, have got 24.32 per cent of the outlay, which totals Rs. 222.32 crore.

    The credit plan being implemented by banks in the district is being monitored by the lead bank with the support of the District Development Office of NABARD.

    Achievement

    Against the credit outlay of Rs. 704.59 crore for 2005-06, the banks have disbursed Rs. 749.47 crore, recording 94.32 per cent achievement by the end of December, 2005. The disbursement under the priority sector is Rs. 481.09 crore against the third quarter target of Rs. 587.08 crore.
