Harrisons Malayalam bags Pakistan order

BANGALORE: India has made a significant breakthrough in export of tea to Pakistan with Harrisons Malayalam bagging an order for three million kg, according to the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jairam Ramesh. India, the largest producer of tea, and Pakistan, the second largest importer of tea, did not have any trade in tea so far. Pakistan mostly buys from Kenya and Sri Lanka. "India must become a long-term supplier to Pakistan," he said and mentioned that the Commerce Secretary was in Pakistan to ensure that. India produces about 900 million kg of tea, of which about 20 per cent is exported.
