Cases registered against 24 for bogus certificates

PONDICHERRY: Cases have been registered against twenty four persons for producing bogus certificates for inclusion of names in the electoral list for the Yanam region.

A press release from the Election Department said there were many applicants from migrant people in Yanam region. On verification it was found that deletion certificates in support for their claim for enrolment were fake. The release further said that twenty one persons were arrested and a search is on for others. A case has also been registered against V. V. S Murthy, president of Siva Youth Association, Yanam for obtaining bogus deletion certificate for ration card and voters enrolment in the name of Lt Governor of Pondicherry and Joint CEC, for failing to disclose the source of such certificate.
