COIMBATORE: The integrated textile park scheme, aimed at promoting the entire textile production chain in a textile centre, has evoked encouraging response in the State with three projects approved under it and six more in the pipeline. This is one of the highest in a State in the country, says D. Bandopadhayay, Deputy Director In-Charge of the Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner here. While projects have been submitted for the Palladam, Cuddalore and Perundurai parks, similar ones are expected at Tirunelveli, Sivakasi, Karur, Erode, Komarapalayam and Andipatti. Mr. Bandopadhyay explained that the scheme was modified in November with relaxations in investment limit. Accordingly, the minimum investment (project cost) for a park with 50 or more entrepreneurs should be Rs. 100 crores; for 25 to 49 entrepreneurs, Rs. 150 crores; and for five to 24 entrepreneurs, Rs. 300 crores. The investment limit could be relaxed further in case of handloom units.
