Telugu Desam leader alleges mismanagement of water

Staff Reporter

Nizamabad: Former Minister and TDP district president Pocharam Srinivas Reddy has accused the district administration of mismanagement of water released from Nizam Sagar due to which a large amount of water has been going waste.

If water in Singur and Nizam Sagar, both accounting for 32 tmcft of water, is used properly, it can be given to all crops up to the tail-end of the reservoir in Armoor and Balkonda constituencies, he said at a press meet on Tuesday. In the absence of supervision, water was released abruptly to all tanks resulting in breach of bunds; he alleged referring to washing away of a tank bund recently in Nizamabad.

Everyday, two to three farmers were electrocuted when they went to switch on electric motors as the power was being given during night hours. So for 80 farmers were thus electrocuted, he said.
