LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh nurses' union that threatened to go on a total strike from April 11 has called off its work-to-rule agitation with the State Government accepting its major demands. Five of the demands of the UP Rajkiya Nurses Sangh were accepted and necessary directives issued in this connection, officials said here on Tuesday. In the MoU, reached after a six-hour meeting late last night, the State Government issued an order to begin the procedure for appointment of nurses in Group-C cadre as one of their demands. A committee led by Director-General (Medical and Health) B. Nath was also constituted to complete formalities for the promotions in the nursing cadre for 2005-06, they said. It was expected to complete the formalities by April 15 and give the final list by April-end. -- PTI
