Trailer lorry workers'

strike continues

KOCHI: The cargo movement to and from the Kochi Port remained paralysed even as the indefinite strike by crew of trailer lorries serving the port entered the second day on Tuesday.Nearly 1,000 trailer lorries are participating in the strike. A spokesman for the Cochin Container Carrier Owners' Welfare Association claimed here that they had made a bid to hold discussions with the leaders of the striking crew. He said that considering the crucial time at which the strike has come, the association had made a request to the trailer crew to call off the strike. — Staff Reporter

BSNL telephone adalat

KOCHI: The next telephone adalat of BSNL has been scheduled for May. Customers of Ernakulam and Idukki districts who have grievances on services provided and billed can send their complaints before April 15 to the AGM (OP), Office of PGMT, BSNL Bhavan, Kochi-16. The adalat date will be intimated to the complainants. — Staff Reporter

Power disruption

KOCHI: Anti-social elements have been found to be frequently removing the fuse units of transformers in Vytilla and nearby areas, the assistant engineer of the Vytilla electrical section of the KSEB has said. Members of the public have been asked to maintain vigil against these elements. — Staff Reporter
