Bangalore: Unscheduled load shedding may continue on Wednesday too, officials of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL) have said. They said load shedding has become inevitable as the four units of the Talcher Power Generation Station in Orissa failed around 6.30 p.m. on Saturday and power supply to the State from the Central Power Generating Stations has been reduced by 400 mw to 500 mw. Devaka Rao, chief engineer, KPTCL's Load Despatching Centre, told The Hindu here on Tuesday that there may not be any load shedding in Bangalore city on Wednesday if the four units are synchronised and the State receives its share of power supply. The Talcher station provides about 2,000 mw to the four southern States and the State's share is around 450 mw on an average. Daily power consumption in the State has touched 126 million units a day, 10 million units to 15 million units more than that consumed during the same period last year. "It is a major issue. KPTCL transmits power. We are trying to manage the situation," said Kumar Naik, managing director of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM.)
