Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan seeking to review the court's earlier judgment rejecting his plea for a CBI inquiry into the circumstances under which the witnesses in the ice-cream parlour sex scandal case had turned hostile. The petition was dismissed by Justice J.M. James. The court had earlier observed that material available before the court showed that at this stage the prosecutor or any other machinery had not been used to influence the witnesses to retract from their earlier statements and turn hostile. In the review petition, the Opposition leader alleged that the Special Public Prosecutor at the Kozhikode Sessions Court had facilitated the witnesses to turn hostile.
