"Business ethics has gained importance"

Values should be a key part of the syllabus, say speakers at workshop

CHENNAI: Business management education institutes should stress the importance of ethics in the syllabus, said speakers at an interactive workshop on `Fair Trade And Ethical Business Practices' on Wednesday.

According to regional director of Indo-German Chamber of Commerce T.R. Gopalan "business ethics has gained much awareness and importance, as a management discipline." He told a batch of management and social work students that organisations "respected by employees, customers, suppliers and the community" were likely to be successful in the long run. He said TVS' in-house vocational school and Indo-German Chamber's Business School where ethics and values were part of the curriculum, and urged other institutions to follow suit.
