Saran begins talks in U.S.
Washington:
On a visit to push forward the Indo-U.S. civilian nuclear deal, Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran on Wednesday began discussions with the Bush administration officials on the steps to be adopted on the agreement clinched earlier this month.
Mr. Saran, who arrived here on Tuesday evening, held talks with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns and other State Department officials over lunch. Earlier, they met at a dinner hosted by Mr. Burns.
The luncheon meeting assumes significance as it took place after Mr. Burns appeared at a closed-door session with lawmakers on Capitol Hill where he answered queries from Congressmen over the nuclear agreement. PTI
