Fireflies Festival of Sacred Music on April 8

The theme is "Inner and outer journey in the context of globalisation"

Bangalore: The city's cultural scene is again abuzz with activity. This time because of the music festival that is being organised by the Fireflies Ashram. The Fireflies Festival of Sacred Music will be held on April 8 on the ashram premises in Kaggalipura village on Kanakapura Road.

Siddharta of Fireflies Ashram said this is the fourth year that the festival is being organised. It was earlier called as Bhoomi Jathre and was recently renamed Fireflies Festival of Sacred Music. The festival is soon going to be part of the Festivals of World Sacred Music that is held annually at Fez, Morocco, he said. The theme of this year's festival is "Inner and outer journey in the context of globalisation".

The first year's theme was on peace in Iraq, second year on the need to conserve water and last year on the importance to protect and grow more trees.

Geetha Navale of Esperanto, world music project, said that the festival will feature western and eastern classical music, cross-cultural music and a bit of jazz.

Christoph of Fireflies said that the festival aims to give a soul to globalisation through spirituality and music. He also said that the festival is a celebration of pluralism and togetherness. NGOs will set up stalls, Mr. Siddharta said.

Tickets for the event are priced at Rs. 200 per head.
