KOZHIKODE: The Social Agency for Women and Rural Development (Saward) will organise a rural fair of the products manufactured by women self-help groups, Kudumbasree units and other small-scale enterprises managed by women with a view to providing a market outlet.

Saward secretary P. Suresh Babu said the objective of the exhibition to be held from April 3 to 13 at Kunnamangalam here was to popularise the traditional and ethnic products of the women-managed micro-enterprises.

For instance, the traditional `sambar koottu,' which has a long shelf-life, manufactured by a self-help group (SHG) at Pilasseri would be one of the products to be showcased.

Similarly, handmade soap made of eco-friendly products such as coconut meal from the coconut milling unit managed by a SHG is another product to be exhibited.

Mr. Suresh Babu said Saward, which coordinates the activities of 100-odd SHGs in Kunnamangalam, also has a tie-up with similar agencies outside the State such as the Gudalur-based Adivasi Munneta Sanghom.

The Adivasi Sanghom will set up tealeaf stall at the exhibition. In exchange, Saward has been putting up its self-help group's products, such as coconut oil, at exhibitions there.

A highlight of the Saward exhibition would be the staging of traditional dances and other art forms by the women members as part of the fair.
