Bomb hoax near AIIMS
However, after search of the briefcase police declared the scare as a `hoax' after about half an hour, according to sources. Panic was created after someone noticed a briefcase lying near a public convenience, opposite AIIMS and next to Safdarjung Hospital at about 1.30 p.m. People started running helter skelter on hearing about the `bomb'. The bomb disposal squad was later called which declared it as a `hoax' after carrying a search of the briefcase.
Man held, pistol recovered
Acting on a tip-off that two persons staying in the Vikaspuri area were carrying a firearm with them, the police intercepted them. One of the accused then whipped out a pistol and opened fire at the police party. However, he was overpowered. The other accused, Vishal Punia, managed to flee. During interrogation, the accused identified himself as Vipin Kadyan, a resident of Jhajjhar in Haryana.
Fake printing cartridges: one held
Acting on a tip-off that one Awadh Kishore had been manufacturing and selling fake HP cartridges, the police sent a decoy customer to strike a deal with them. Awadh came to deliver the consignment when he was arrested. At his instance, the police mounted a raid at the unit and recovered rest of the fake cartridges. Further probe into the matter is on.
Woman and her paramour arrested
According to the police, the body was found dumped in the fields along the Saath Foota Samapur-Burari Road. Enquiries revealed that Attar's wife, Rajbiri, was having an extramarital relationship with their tenant, Mukesh. They wanted to get married so they allegedly conspired to get rid of Attar. The police picked up the duo. During interrogation, they allegedly confessed to having murdered Attar.
Four CPWD employees held
It is learnt that around 7-30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Police Control Room received a call claiming that some people were consuming liquor in the CPWD office at South Avenue. Subsequently, the police raided the place and arrested five people in this connection.
