A resolution for relief
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
In a last ditch effort to provide relief to traders, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi House on Thursday tabled a resolution seeking implementation of the mixed land use policy in all the 135 roads where the sealing of shops, running from residential areas, is going on.
Councillors of the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP supported the resolution tabled jointly by Leader of the House Jitender Kochar, Standing Committee Chairman Mukesh Goel, Leader of Opposition in MCD House Subhash Arya and senior BJP councillor Vijender Gupta. The resolution is likely to be passed in the special session of the House on Friday after which it will be forwarded to Lieutenant-Governor B. L. Joshi for clearance.
To ensure that the resolution is passed without any legal hitches and with the support of people, a six-member committee comprising Mr. Kochar, Mr. Goel, Mr. Arya, senior MCD officials Ravi Dass, K.D. Akolia and V.K. Bagga, was formed to talk to resident welfare associations and take legal opinion and discuss the mater with Municipal Commissioner A.K. Nigam.
