HYDERABAD: Close on the heels of release of Revolutionary Writers Association (Virasam) president G. Kalyana Rao, his other jailed colleague, Varavara Rao, was also set free on Friday evening. Mr. Varavara Rao walked to freedom from Chanchalguda jail after the court discharged him from a case under provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Public Security Act which was invoked following the ban on VIRASAM. He is an executive member of the organisation. The police had filed chargesheet against Mr. Varavara Rao on March 17 although the ban on VIRASAM was lifted in November. He had already got bail in six other cases in which he was shifted to court as he was lodged in jail under the Public Security Act. Mr. Kalyana Rao, balladeer, Gadar, and his family members received Mr. Varavara Rao outside the jail.
