`End trailer workers' strike'

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: The Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has asked authorities concerned to take steps to settle, on an urgent basis, the container-trailer workers' strike, which entered the fifth day on Friday.

The chamber, in a message to the authorities, has said that the continuing of the strike will result in an irreparable loss, as export-import firms will divert containers to Mangalore, Tuticorin and Chennai ports.

Already 600-odd trailers have been diverted to Tuticorin.

The chamber has demanded that the decision to increase airfares in the Gulf sector from April 1 be re-examined.
