CHENNAI: The State Government has decided to disburse salary and pension to employees and pensioners on or before the first working day in April. This is in view of the indefinite strike call issued by the Coordination Committee of State Bank Staff Union and SBI Officers Association from April 3. An official release said on Friday that in the case of Government employees and pensioners drawing their salary or pension under the electronic clearing system (ECS) through the State Bank of India, the money would be credited to their accounts on April 1 or 2. For those not covered under ECS and who are being paid through district treasuries/sub-treasuries operating with SBI, the drawing and disbursing officers concerned will collect the cheques from the district treasury/sub-treasury and encash them on April 1 through SBI branches. The salary/pension will be disbursed in cash. In respect of those covered under ECS through banks other than SBI and sub-treasuries that were operating accounts with other banks the disbursement would be carried out as usual.
