Fate of abandoned child to be decided today

KOCHI: The case of the girl child who was found abandoned on the streets by Childline on Thursday is likely to come up before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board. The Childline had handed over the two-week-old child to Nirmala Sisu Bhavan, an orphanage run by the Missionaries of Charity. The Juvenile Court is convened every Saturday. — Staff Reporter

Archbishop visit

KOCHI: Theodore Edgar Cardinal Mc Carrack, the Washington Archbishop, visited the State as part of the evaluation of the progress of the tsunami relief work undertaken by the Catholic Relief Services. He visited Abilash Self-Help Group, Ponnarimangalam, and interacted with children. He also called on Archbishop Daniel Acharuparambil and offered holy mass at St. Francis Assisi Cathedral, Ernakulam. — Staff Reporter

Tourism festival

KOCHI: V.J. Kurien, managing director, Cochin International Airport Limited, will inaugurate a tourism festival, being organised by Kerala.com, on Saturday. The two-day festival, to be held at the TDM Hall, envisages promotion of vacation tourism. Various tour operators will showcase the packages on offer. — Staff Reporter
