CHENNAI: N&D Communications, a media-advertising agency, has come out with a portal www.ruralone.com which will act as a comprehensive one-point resource for rural marketing. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, M. Nachiappan, Creative and Managing Director of the company, said there was an acute shortage of data such as live rural data, target group data and information on the rural calendar. With many FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) companies finding good potential to market their products in rural India with a population of 74 crore in six lakh villages, this portal would help the companies by providing them with details relating to consumption patterns, purchase points, income levels, spending frequency and communication channels, Mr. Nachiappan said. There is a sizable chunk of population in rural areas with high disposable incomes, he said.
