NEW DELHI: The two-day New Zealand Education Fair 2006 held at Oberoi Hotel here concluded on Sunday. Representatives from as many as 21 prominent educational institutions in New Zealand participated in the Fair to provide counselling to parents and students eager to pursue their studies there. Prospective candidates were provided detailed information on various aspects ranging from courses offered to qualification requirements, further opportunities including job availability, to visa formalities and living condition and expenses. The education counsellors informed the students about the institutions offering under-graduate and post-graduate courses like Business Studies, Engineering, Information Technology and Computing, Food and Dairy Technology, Plant Science and Horticulture, Hospitality and Hotel Management, Nursing, Viticulture, Forestry and Sports Management. At the inaugural function on Saturday, New Zealand's High Commissioner to India Graeme Waters said: "New Zealand as an education destination is witnessing tremendous growth and India is as an important market for us. As of this January, we have already seen an increase of 79 per cent in the students' applications for our institutions and our aim is to continue to propel this momentum through platforms like the New Zealand Education Fair, which allows a direct and detailed dialogue between universities and students." He informed that during the past six years over 5,000 Indian students had studied in New Zealand.
