MCH hits big time in ad revenue

58% in a single year is said to be the highest ever in corporation history

  • Jaju promises more schemes for creating better amenities

    HYDERABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad might not have reached the target of Rs. 210-crore revenue in property tax collections for the financial year (2005-06) but it has certainly scored big in terms of advertisement revenue collections.

    Advertisement revenue touched a record Rs. 21.41 crores as against Rs. 13.55 crores collected in 2004-05.

    Next only to Mumbai

    With this, Hyderabad becomes the second highest advertisement revenue earner among all cities after Mumbai. The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is said to have collected Rs. 24 crores last year.

    Additional Commissioner (Traffic and Transportation) N.V.S. Reddy, also looking after Advertisement wing, said that apart from the money collected, additional resources of Rs. 14.75 crores was created in the twin cities. This was in the form of capital investments for creation of 13 foot overbridges, public conveniences, traffic-related signages and other works in the three rounds of `Fund Your City' scheme of private-public partnership last year.
