BANGALORE: The JC Nagar Police on Saturday arrested three persons on the charge of throwing acid on a woman. The police gave the names of those arrested as Ansar Khan alias Ameen (25), resident of Kalasipalyam, Sibgath Ulla alias Munna (28), resident of Krishnappa Garden, Bannerghatta Road, and Tabrez alias Abdul (23), resident of Haleguddadahalli, Mysore Road. The police said the victim, Hemavathi, who suffered burns in the attack, revealed that she was having an affair with Murugesh alias Ashok. However, on the day of the incident, she had told the police that an unknown person had thrown acid on her. Retracting her earlier statement, Hemavathi said Ansar, working in a shop near the place where Hemavathi was working, had proposed to her. However, the victim told him that she was going to marry Murugesh. Enraged by this, Ansar arranged the acid attack, police said. On his arrest on Saturday, Ansar told the police about the plot. The police said Tabrez had procured two-and-a-half litres of sulphuric acid from Raja Market and handed it over to Sibgath Ulla. Sibgath Ulla waited for Hemavathi in front of her hostel on Wednesday and threw acid on her face as soon as she emerged out of the hostel, the police said. Hemavathi is in Victoria Hospital.
