Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday assured H.D. Revanna (Janata Dal-S) in the Legislative Assembly that his request for reducing or withdrawing the four per cent tax on buttermilk and dairy products will be considered after July 31, when the vote on account expires. Replying to Mr. Revanna, who is his older brother, after a debate on the passage of the Karnataka Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill without a discussion, the Chief Minister said the request for reducing or withdrawing the tax on buttermilk and coffee will be considered after consulting experts. Mr. Kumaraswamy, explaining why he agreed to attend a meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on the Kalasa-Banduri nala scheme, to supply drinking water to Hubli-Dharwad, said it is a continuation of the dialogue started some time ago. The Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister of Goa will also be attending. The Union Water Resources Minister had telephonically informed him of the meeting being held on Tuesday, he said. Mr. Kumaraswamy said he could not inform the Opposition about the developments because of the workload and assured the Opposition members that the Government will keep them informed and take its advice on all important and sensitive issues.
