ULFA leader's mother votes "for peace"

Jeraigaon (Assam): Miliki Barua, mother of Paresh Barua, `Commander-in-Chief' of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), exercised her franchise on Monday, saying she had "voted for peace" in the State.

"Whichever party comes to power must work for peace in Assam ... The new Government must work for the greater interest of the State and there should not be incidents like in Kakopathar where innocent people were killed in police firing. There must be peace," she told reporters after voting. PTI
