Whirlpool plans $20m investment

Unveils variants of refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves

COOL SOLUTIONS: The brand Ambassador of Whirlpool, Ajay Devgan and Kajol at the launch of a new range of Whirlpool products in New Delhi on Monday.

NEW DELHI: Whirlpool India will invest $20 million over the next 12-18 months for expanding its bouquet of products, Arvind Uppal, Managing Director, said here on Monday.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Uppal said, ``We manufacture around 1.5 million units in a year, and we hope to achieve a 20 per cent growth in production this year. At present we have sufficient capacity to sustain our demand.''

The company unveiled three new variants of refrigerators, washing machines and microwaves.

The company saw a 20 per cent growth across its refrigerators, washing machines and microwaves.

The new range of refrigerators are priced between Rs. 10,700 and Rs. 19,500 while the `JetChef' Microwave is priced in the range of Rs. 15,000 to Rs 18,000. The 'Splash' washing machine is tagged at Rs. 10,490.
