MUMBAI: Mahindra United staged a late recovery to salvage a 2-2 draw against Salgaocar in an evenly contested 10th ONGC National Football League match at the Cooperage here on Monday. Yusif Yakubu opened the scoring for Mahindra after Dias delivered a perfect cross from the flanks in the eighth minute. Salgaocar's resilience helped draw level in the 19th minute, raising the tempo of the match. Fabio Dos snatched the ball off a sloppy Deepak Mondal and passed it to Samson Singh. The striker weaved his way into the goalmouth and slotted home in style. Salgaocar took the lead in the second half. Jyoti Kumar beat Rauf Khan to the ball on the left flank, attempting a cross into the goalmouth, and was soon screaming with delight on finding the ball float the other way into the net, past a perplexed Nandy. Gawli's headed goal saved Mahindra from further embarrassment. Mahindra has 20 points from nine games, one behind East Bengal and now faces arch-rival Air-India in a tough home game this week. Salgaocar has eight points from 11 matches. Special Correspondent
