New CMD for Syndicate Bank

NEW DELHI: The new Chairman and Managing Director of Syndicate Bank, C.P. Swarnkar, has assumed charge of office, according to an official announcement here.

Mr. Swarnkar was Executive Director of Punjab National Bank so far. He has had 36 years of banking experience in various capacities.

New Director for PNB

NEW DELHI: K. Raghuraman has taken over as Executive Director of Punjab National Bank. Prior to this, he was General Manager at Central Bank of India.

A qualified chartered accountant, Mr. Raghuraman started his banking career with the Central Bank of India in 1973.

Focus on vector-borne diseases

NEW DELHI: Stating that dengue fever is posing a major health problem to the Capital's citizens, Health Minister Yoganand Shastri has blamed large-scale immigration, development activities, extension of urbanisation and mushrooming of unauthorised colonies for the problem.

He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop on "Capacity Building of Inter-Sectoral Partners for Prevention and Control of Vector-Borne Diseases" organised by the Health Department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in collaboration with the Directorate of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme here over the weekend.

Drawing competition

NEW DELHI: The Indian Mountaineering Foundation is organising a drawing competition at its Benito Juarez Marg premises here on April 15.

Entry to the competition is free and participants can use crayon, pastel or water colours. The selected drawings will be published in the form of a coffee-table book, "I Love Mountains".

There will be three prizes each in the senior and junior categories. Apart from cash, the winners will be given certificates.

Akshardham Temple celebrations

NEW DELHI: Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple will celebrate the birth anniversary of its presiding deity Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan and Bhagwan Shree Ramachandra at its premises in East Delhi this coming Thursday. A highlight of the programme will be "annakuta darshan" from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Entry will be open up to 8-30 p.m.
