NEW DELHI : The Congress on Monday released its third list of candidates for elections to the 294-strong West Bengal Assembly.
Officially, the Congress maintained that this was the
Jadavpur does not figure on today's list of 96 constituencies for which the Congress has announced candidates. With this, the Congress has announced candidatures for 254 of the 257 seats it initially planned to contest.
The remaining 37 seats have been left for its allies.
While the Congress' media office maintained that it had been told that today's list was the last for West Bengal, sources said there could be last-minute additions when quizzed about the absence of a candidate for Jadavpur.
Prominent in today's list is Deepa Dasmunsi, wife of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, in Goalpokhar, and sitting MLAs Rubi Noor and A. H. Khan Chowdhury (siblings of long-time Malda representative in Parliament Ghani Khan Chowdhury) in Suzapur and Kaliachak.
