CHENNAI: If you have a fascination for the old then this exhibition will capture your attention. C.P. Art Centre has on exhibition scenes from the Ramayana, some of them paintings of Ravi Varma.

The early 20th century paintings all depict various scenes from the epic and were printed at Ravi Varma's printing press at Lonavala. Some of them are from Calcutta and Madurai.

The theme was chosen to correlate with the upcoming Ram Navami festival.

The 40 ageing, framed oleographs may form a part of a collector's wish list.

They come from the personal collection of Nanditha Krishna, director of the centre.

The collections were being sold to enable the centre to fund its projects.

The centre runs Saraswati Kendra, a school for special children, on its campus. Another project that the money will help fund is the `each one teach one' programme focussing on women's literacy.

The oleographs are priced between Rs.2,500 and Rs.10,000.

The exhibition is on at Vennirul Art Gallery from Monday till April 13 on all days except Sundays.

The gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
