Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Avadi, Nungambakkam from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance work on Wednesday. Supply will be resumed after 5 p.m. on completion of work.

Blood donation

A blood donation camp was conducted by the blood bank of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch on April 2, 2006 at St. Therasa Church, Kasimedu, Chennai. The camp was organised by Fr. Raymond, director, Archdiocesan Health Commission, San Thome.

Yoga classes

Balakrishna Eye Hospital, Saidapet, started free Yoga classes, in which 72 persons joined as part of the first batch. Actor Gemini Balaji inaugurated the classes at the Hospital on Sunday.

Lecture on exports

The department of Management Studies, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, organised a lecture on `Export business', by S. Chandramouli, manager, Rane Madras Limited. S.N.Soundara Rajan, dean, Management Studies welcomed the gathering.

Peer team visits college

The National Assesment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team visited Quaid-e-millat Government College for Women, Anna Salai, Chennai 600002 on March 31, April 1 and April 2 for re-accreditation. The peer team included heads of noted institutions, industry experts.

Corporate Citizen Award

The Rotary Club of Ambattur conferred the "Corporate Citizen Award" to Thirumalai Chemicals, Ranipet at a function held last week at Hotel Breeze, Chennai. The award was given by S. Jagadeesan, former Judge of Madras High Court to Parthasarathy, vice-chairman of the company, for "strict adherence to ethical business practices and exemplary work in environmentally friendly initiatives".
