NEW BEGINNING: Bhoomi puja for Auden's school; at right are winners of the competition at Carmel School.
BANGALORE: It was a picture of calm dignity as the students of Class XII of CMR National Public School, Banaswadi, dressed in their formal best entered the auditorium on the graduation day, nursing memories and now ready to embark on a new educational journey. Their class teacher, Aruna M., led them. The programme began with an invocation song after which headmistress Chitra Doraiswami, welcomed the gathering and applauded the students on being a "generous and compassionate batch". After the traditional ceremony of lighting the lamp by chief guest Lakshminarayana, principal Sabitha Ramamurthy and Ms. Aruna shared a few memorable moments with the gathering and advised the students to remain focussed in life and never to compromise on integrity. Abhilash, Hitha, Nishanth and Gayathri spoke on behalf of their classmates expressing how the institution had helped them develop into responsible and confident young persons.
Mr. Lakshminarayana addressed the students and said that life is full of challenges. He was glad that students had started contributing to society. He reminded them never to forget the role of teachers and parents in moulding them. Ms. Sabitha Ramamurthy lay emphasis on the spiritual and moral values.
Bhoomi puja
TO MARK the silver jubilee celebrations, the Auden Institute of Education, Banashankari, will build a central school at Voderahalli in Bangalore Rural district. The groundbreaking ceremony was held recently and Gururaj Karajgi, director of Academy for Creative Teaching, Kemanna and the members of Voderahalli Gram Panchayat were present.
Interschool competition
STUDENTS PARTICIPATED with enthusiasm and energy at the interschool competition conducted by the literary clubs of Carmel School, Padmanabha Nagar. Poetry writing, painting, quiz, dance and drama were all part of the competition. "The members of our literary clubs took keen interest in conducting the competition. It was a learning experience for them," said Bala, a teacher.
Innovations Unleashed
SRI VANI Education Centre, Machohalli, organised "Innovations Unleashed - 2006", a science project display to mark National Science Day celebrations. The highlight of the project was "Exploring beneath", which was an attempt to bring to light the dark regions under the earth. Little children, dressed up as various vegetables, reptiles, burrowing animals, miners and workers stole the show. The enthusiasm they showed saw the visitors "going under the earth repeatedly to explore its hidden treasures." The other exhibits ranged from simple everyday mechanisms to satellite launch vehicles. There was also a telescope on display. "Nurturing scientific temperament in young learners has become the need of the times to create a responsible and competent society," said school vice-principal Karthiayani Bhat.
