Subhash Chopra writes to PM

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over the unrest in the Capital due to the agitation by the trading community over the sealing of illegal shops in residential areas, Kalkaji MLA Subhash Chopra has in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urged him to issue an Ordinance to save the livelihood of lakhs of people.

`Situation not good'

Reminding the Prime Minister that the present situation does not augur well for the Congress party's prospects in Delhi, Mr. Chopra said: "As the latest notification of the Union Urban Development Ministry allowing commercial activity on the ground floor under mixed land use policy has not been able to address the problem, I would therefore urge you to kindly issue directions to the authorities concerned to take steps to bring in an Ordinance."

Admitting that efforts were being made by the Union Government as well as the All-India Congress Committee leaders to sort out the issue to the satisfaction of one and all, Mr. Chopra said multiplicity of authority in the city need to be addressed urgently.
