dated April 5, 1956: Pak tactics in Kashmir

Speaking in the Kashmir Assembly on April 3, the State Premier, Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, said: "Recent candid declarations of Prime Minister Nehru in Parliament and at a press conference about Kashmir have frustrated all attempts of Pakistan to disturb peace in the State and to confuse the people to turn their concentration from economic progress and development activities, in which they are engaged." He revealed that to achieve these ends, Pakistan was turning Gilgit into a war base. General Mirza's visit to Pak-held Kashmir and Choudhary Mohammad Ali's misleading statements were directed towards that end.
